No magic - just our painstaking joint work on the site

When a company enters a new stage of growth, its digital tools often stop keeping pace with its development. A website that worked effectively in a local market just yesterday may become limited when it comes to scaling. This is especially noticeable in service industries with rapid expansion, where each new city or market requires a separate digital presence. In such cases, what is needed is not a modernization of the web resource, but a new architecture.
This was the challenge faced by a company with which we had already had successful experience working. When the business reached the point of scaling, it became clear that its existing digital presence no longer matched its new goals. This is how the idea of creating PlusOne Moving emerged. The new brand and technology platform, combining B2C services with a full-fledged B2B direction in the form of franchising, created a foundation for further growth in Canada and beyond.
PlusOne Moving: Moving Services and a Global Franchise Network
The moving company was founded in Calgary and currently has a presence in Kitchener. For more than 5 years, its professional team has been packing, transporting, and unpacking customers’ belongings at their new locations. The moving company’s clients include both individuals and businesses. Offering a wide range of services, our client focuses on customers’ emotional comfort, transparent pricing, and a team of accredited professionals.
The PlusOne platform was created as an umbrella brand for entering new markets and selling franchises. The project is designed for rapid scaling into other Canadian cities and expansion into the U.S. market.
Goals and Objectives of the PlusOne Moving Project
The client is our long-standing partner, who already had a successful business in the local and interprovincial moving niche but felt the need to create a new global brand.
The old Paramount Moving project was not suitable for scaling. It was tightly tied to specific cities, which made expansion more difficult. A new visual and technical foundation was required that would allow PlusOne to become a global player, ready to enter the U.S. market without a major rebuild of the website.
The client’s goal was to create a web platform – a foundation for a global brand, where each city would look like a separate website and the franchising section would become a powerful tool for attracting partners. We proposed developing a scalable multi-regional platform with franchising as a priority.
The main objectives of the collaboration were:
- layout and programming based on mockups from a third-party design studio;
- development of a unique “city as a website” architecture, where each location, such as Calgary and Kitchener, has its own complete structure;
- creation of a detailed franchise sales section focused on business advantages.
To meet the launch deadlines, we chose a Minimum Viable Product (MVP) strategy.
Project Implementation, Challenges, and Solutions
The work on creating the website included the following areas:
- Technical Implementation of the Design. Mockups from the partner company were transformed into a live, fast-performing website.
- Multi-Regional Architecture. We developed a system in which each city section functions as a complete standalone resource.
- Franchising Section. We created a dedicated page that describes the benefits and terms of partnership in detail.
- MVP Management. We divided functionality into “critical for launch” and “additional.”
Constant content adaptation for different cities and the need to implement complex franchise business logic required significant time and resources. We chose to postpone non-critical tasks in order to ensure a stable launch of the main sales funnel. To meet strict deadlines, we proposed a partial release, or MVP, to the client: first, we launched a simplified version with the core functionality and the Calgary page, and then gradually expanded the site’s content and capabilities.
